Photo x Monet, 2018
Acrylic on canvas 50.8 cm x 60.96 cm I created this piece for my parents. Using Monet’s style in Oat and Poppy Field, I wished to recreate their feelings of love, captured within this photo. His use of thin layered brushstrokes created the impression of a simple yet detailed field; I wished to use this technique to describe my parents youthful love. My use of a more saturated palette for the planes, was to recreate the joy my mother and father had while recounting this moment. Blurring the faces of my parents, I wished to have them to embody that moment, not as a memory but in the present. |
